CBD oil, or cannabis oil, isn’t necessarily a very debated substance. At this point in time, it’s been widely accepted that cbd oil is safe for the human body. However, it’s still up in the air right now about cannabis itself, and whether or not that’s safe. As time goes on, and we learn more about cannabis, it begins to become more and more safe and acceptable in the eyes of the public. As of today, in the United States, all but 17 states have legalized cannabis for medical uses, and many others for recreational as well. At the end of the day, we still have a lot to learn from cannabis, and study how it affects the human body, but we already know quite a bit, and it’s important for everyone to understand how it does. Of course, cbd oil will have drastically different effects than the raw plant being smoked, so it’s important to keep that in mind. Here are a  few different ways that cbd oil affects the human body.

Understand the Compounds

Right off the bat, when using cbd, it’s important to always follow cbd dosage guidelines, to make sure you remain as safe as possible. With that said, cbd is a very safe substance, and when used correctly, you won’t have any issues. Unlike other plant oils, cbd isn’t an oil derived from the whole plant. This is why it’s important to have a cannabis filtration in Canada. CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the many different compounds that make up the marijuana plant. The substance found in marijuana that people often look at as dangerous, is THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol. This substance is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis that causes the user to obtain a “high.”

Pain Relief

Pain relief is a long-lasting tradition for marijuana. It’s been used for centuries to help relieve pain in humans. Luckily enough, cannabidiol is one of the compounds found in cannabis that helps to relieve pain. There are others, and combined would be more potent, but cbd oil will still have pain relieving tendencies. It does this by interacting with a certain neurotransmitter the body creates, called endocannabinoids. It also does so by significantly reducing inflammation. As of right now, cbd is mainly used to aid chronic pain, such as arthritis or other joint pains, however it has been shown to help with surgical pain as well.

Anxiety and Depression

The next big way that cbd oil can be used medically, is by treating anxiety and depression. Right now, there’s a big problem in the medical industry when it comes to treating these mental illnesses. Many of the drugs used today to help relieve these symptoms have a lot of side effects, can be dangerous when mixed with other medications or foods, and many are addictive, and are a frequently abused substance.

Side Effects

There are a plethora of other ways that cbd affects the human body, that we simply don’t have time for in this article. But there are a few side effects that are important to note. Following the correct cbd dosage recommendations will eliminate most, if not all, of the side effects that cannabidiol may have on your body, but it’s still important to understand what may happen. Here’s a short list of possible side effects.

  • Fatigue
  • May impact appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • In extremely large doses of concentrated extract, it’s been shown to possibly be toxic to the liver

Just be careful, and make sure that you follow the guidelines for proper usage, and you will be fine. The benefits of CBD far outweighs the very minimal side effects.
